One of the consequences of living in this beautiful land is "scattered families". The young are always leaving to seek greener pastures. I am sure it happens everywhere but here they seem to head off in their droves. It really is very sad.
This song is about a young girl who goes off to New York and Skypes home full of the excitement of life. As time goes on she starts to miss home but feels she cannot come back home and admit defeat.

Hallo Dad hallo all
You should see this place
Gold plated sun
hardcore fun
A smile on every face
Hallo Dad hallo all
I'd like to hear you say
We're missing you today
My girl
We are missing you today
Hallo Dad hallo all
Today I dont feel so well
Displaced alone
Missing home
The Cape Town harbour smell
Hallo Dad hallo all
I need to hear you say
We're missing you today
My girl
We are missing you today
Hallo Dad hallo all
The wall is crumbling down
Through a hairline crack
Keep looking back
To what left in my home town
Hallo Dad hallo all
I'm crying to hear you say
We're missing you today
My girl
We are missing you today
In a city of 8 million
I still feel so alone
I cannot give up on this dream
I cannot come back home
Hallo Dad hallo all
I'm dying to hear you say
We're missing you today
My girl
We are missing you today
