From the recording Always Here

This is a song I have been fighting with since the year 2000! It is the one and only song I wrote before undertaking a song writing course in October 2012. My course teacher told me that, in its old format, it had no hope…too wordy..melody too boring..chorus too boring.. much too personal (it is in fact inspired by a personal experience)..no wide appeal…too repetitive…..etc, etc.! But, all things go in circles and I got the inspiration to tackle it again a week or so ago and this is what I came up with.

You took me away to that magical place
A tapestry of sea sand and waves
We hung out and hid no turning back
But in the end you used me like an old dishrag

Need you like a hole in the head
water in my lungs thorn in my bed
You took my heart pulled it through the wringer
I didn't' think the drama could get any bigger
need you like a hole in the head
water in my lungs thorn in my bed
I had to get off and touch dry land
before it had a chance to get outta hand

So I ran away didn't tell you why
Didn't stop to talk didn't even try
Driving as fast as my car could go
Drivi ng to where I didn't know

Need you like a hole in the head
water in my lungs thorn in my bed
You took my heart pulled it through the wringer
I didn't' think the drama could get any bigger
Need you like a hole in the head
water in my lungs thorn in my bed
I had to get off and touch dry lanc'
before it had a chance to get outta hand

I couldn't help you never even tried
Had to save myself couldn't take the ride
had to make the break before you cast your spell
I know that other women haven't faired so well

Need you like a hole in the head
water in my lungs thorn in my bed
You took my heart pulled it through the wringer
I didn't' think the drama could get any bigger
Need you like a hole in the head
water in my lungs thorn in my bed
I had to get off and touch dry lanc'
before it had a chance to get outta hand

Need you like a hole in the head
Water in my lungs thorn in my bed
I had to get off the merrygoround
before you had a chance to bring me further down
